Swinbrook, Widford and Asthall Village Hall- Centenary Refurbishment Fundraising Appeal
Set in the heart of the beautiful village of Swinbrook the Hall was built in 1926, for the use of the community of the three villages. The land was granted to the village at a nominal rent of 1/- per annum by David Mitford, 2nd Baron Redesdale. Lord and Lady Redesdale also loaned £900 for the hall’s erection.
The hall was and still is a central part of the community, however approaching its centenary it is now quite tired looking, in some areas structurally unsound and needs a full internal refurbishment. The plans are to completely rewire, install a heating system, upgrade the kitchen and loo facilities, install French doors into the garden as well as undertaking some structural repairs to the roof, back wall and guttering. This refurbishment will maintain the integrity of the original building but update it so it meets current regulations and can once again be a central hub for local events, earn its keep and 100 years on still be a central part of the community!
Revised plans and building costs are being finalised and will be available on this page for all to view. Trustees will be looking for donations towards the refurbishment as well as organising fundraising events.
